HER.IDEN SOCKS

HER.IDEN socks are inspired by Guinea-Bissau Panu di Pinti (woven fabric), a traditional fabric made with 100% cotton; rich and colourful patterns that carry centuries of history of the Papel and Manjaco ethnicities.

Personally, my connection with this ancient fabric goes back to my amazing childhood. As a proud descendent of the Manjaco and Papel ethnicities, my dad once hired a weaver to make Panu di Pinti for us (big family), and the strong man spent 3 to 4 weeks in our house making those fabrics under a big mango tree. I used to admire the man weaving so fast and precise some geometrical shapes, faces, animals, and more patterns. Time passed by and this still intrigues me!

The quality and size of the fabrics differ according to your needs or finances as they can be large and heavy or small and lightweight (see image below). In our case, my mum preserved the heavy ones like a treasure and the smalls for our daily use. At that time, I barely knew the importance and the meaning of that piece of art and honestly, it took me years to realize.
